Today I told an ardent political activist that every email file she sent me was illegible. They were full of the 'forwarding' marks, >>> and headers, CODING EVEN but huge blank spaces and joggling, jiggling margins. And the human brain cannot extract the IDEAS in that article any longer! It's an INSTANT DELETE! Or she sends it half baked; the pictures weren't there, she got the text through but not the graphic. Well, I'm not one to see great information reduced to hash. I told this gal that when she finds a great page, (either online or sent her as an email,) TO FORWARD IT CORRECTLY. That means to hit FORWARD, and then choose "AS AN ATTACHMENT" so that it travels 'intact' the way the STAR TREK Enterprise crew sends their molecules to different places in the BEAM ME UP SCOTTY mode, i.e. INTACT! SHE CARES, so take the extra MINUTE to do it this way. I also asked her to BCC all the recipients' names so that all our names and addies aren't hanging out bare-ass which would attract Klingon spammers from Langley. Do it right and it's a 'good send' and many lives will be changed after they read it. But when I write her all this, she goes HUH? Anita, GO BLINK YOURSELF!" She doesn't understand, is offended, considers me either a bitch or a curmudgeon. So now I don't get personal and put it in an email, in the letter part. No, what I do, is I saved this very article, yes, this one here, and anybody sends me a mess I send THIS to 'em! The sec I get her byte bucket of vomit now, Sloppy gets this article sent straight back. So hey, SAVE THIS ARTICLE as BYTE BUCKET.htm or NET VOMIT.htm and you be a model of good NetActivist Tech and send it out again, when appropriate, to your chums to educate them to take a minute to edit your info paydirt and then pay it forward.
Now, MANY of us attempt to save some wonderful file that we receive or find, save it intact to our own CACHE and oddly, this is much harder than forwarding. REALLY HIGHLY CODED and graphic-laden FILES do not save to cache in one piece in all PCs. We cannot 'beam me up Scotty.' so easily. I know my old PC won't handle high tech coding, combined with graphics, but then when I wrote this here FILE I was driving a 1995 PC with WINDOWS 98SE OS. A virtual Model T Ford. But the good in that is, -- I can see what every file is made up of cuz I can't get some of the super high tech ones that slide by you guys in Rolls Royces. Touchy digestion learns about food and cooking, right? Same with old PC's. I learned that Send, Save and Receive have their little tricks so everybody digests the ideas.
IF the words/ ideas in your 'net find' are important, listen, it takes LESS THAN ONE MINUTE TO: A) HIGHLIGHT the text you want to carry as text and B.) insert those bytes into a new, blank file on a TEXT EDITOR and turn it into CLEAN wholesome, simple, organic text -- the most digestible of forms for words on paper, errr. on SCREENS. We all have notepad in our PCS. Build an icon on your desk top for your TEXT EDITING SOFTWARE or download a new text editor so that you can open the icon in a sec.
Then, when, say ---you just got this fab email or file on how Mandatory Swine flu VACCINATIONS are going to be used by the ILLUMINATI to murder all the children in developed countries, make humans into senile slaves, useless for thinking, so that they can wreak their Terrible Will upon us and so that we will just 'take it' like smiling pigs in a mudhole. (!!!) You wanna damn well get that file out to all the people you have in your mailing list!
TO AVOID having any interruptions, mutations, blank spots or illegible send outs, we want to be NET ACTIVISTS of the 'first water.' On top of the Technology. So please, learn the NET ACTIVIST BOOGIE! First, JUST CLEAN up your wonderful EMAIL file that you just found online or received ... save it as text first, then convert to HTM so that you can send it as an attachment. (You can send Txt as an attachment, too.) Often, somebody's browser can't handle formatted HTM text. In that case, highlight the entire file, do CONTROL C for copy, And open up an EMAIL and do CONTROL V into the email, so a.) you can get a look at it, and b.) the body of your email letter has this text comfortably fitting inside, though maybe it's not justified, just send it to yourself. Then, you can get it back as an email, save it as text, enter it and JUSTIFY it if you have a TExT EDITOR THAT JUSTIFIES....(key point ! ) and then turn it into HTM with your word processor software
MY TEXT EDITOR does justify and WAS FOUND FREE to download, ONLINE. Just google 'free + download + "text editor" and + justify as search terms. A GOOD TEXT EDITOR "justifies the margins on any width you choose, 80 characters wide is good...and I like that feature. SO when you google 'free, download, text editor", add "margin justification" + feature' and see what you find. Get that one! Cuz there are about a thousand free shareware text editors online!
THEN -- for the next translation up to HTM text, from 1995 til 2000 I USED NETSCAPE COMPOSER which will INHALE the text and turn it to HTM.. This is called "an HTM composer." It was included in the many VERSION 4 NETSCAPEs, and I have used 4.5 and 4.7 and 4.78 all are free online to download. These are, oldie browsers but a real goodie browser which I used exclusively as it is a DECENT INTERNET BROWSER, also a SUPERB HTM COMPOSER and the best EMAIL CLIENT built in, "MESENGER." For me the primo EMAIL client must collate by size, sender, subject, DATE... these are extremely useful collation features. You can't surf a whole lot with it, some hi tech websites crash it, jam it, stop it dead. Java (whatever THAT is,) jams it but in return, you get the BEST EMAIL CLIENT ANYWHERE. BUT TODAY my HTM composer software is SEA MONKEY FREE TO DOWNLOAD ONLINE in a Spanish minute. WORTH IT.
MICROSOFT WORD composes in HTM but it over codes, making files 1/3 again as huge. And it won't do graphics easily. NETSCAPE used to do GRAPHIC ADDING to your article but nowadays GOOGLE IMAGE stands in your way unless you grab image from THE NET, not from GOOGLE IMAGE. I only use G.I to search for the pic, then I hit right side of screen VISIT SITE and go there and save it to my hard drive for an FTP or LIVELINK to it that way.
SEE: IMAGE BORROWING IS A CINCH, THE SECRET! So Why not get an HTM COMPOSER FOR FREE ONLINE, SEAMONKEY, A low-density coding one!
AND you will need an FTP free software by CORE to load your site. Then,5$ a month for a site. YOU WILL EARN AD REVENUE if your articles are interesting. AND TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE, USE ANY OF THESE 7,000 CLASSROOMS, FREE.
NOTE that as you inhale any text file into this SEAMONKEY htm Composer, it instantly turns words to HTML which you can format, colorize, save and then you can send the finished file out as an attachment to your chums. ABSOLUTELY LEGIBLE TO ALL! This takes one second without graphics, a minute WITH graphics.. We want to be the best activists we can be. That ethos is the SOUL OF THE NET! INFO waking us up, traveling to other smart brains and alert, activist hands.
When people send me this terrific file and it's totally blank or a mess, I have a form letter: "All your email is formatted in htm. SMART net activists always use TEXT! I can't read what you sent, can't share it and what is more it jams my browser, read: http://www.masterjules.net/RIPNETSCAPE.htm where as I can read all mail coming in from folks who use text. And I can share those illuminating files. Tell ya what. Go into your browser's tooks & FORMAT better choices. YOUR BROWSER has a place where you get to choose if you want text or htm for your email, for the letters u send out. Pick txt. PICK TEXT!!!

I've used Notepad++ and Metapad 3.6 (both freeware), and ZTree of course. My fave of all as it's DEEP BLUE and INTUITIVE.
