RAISING THE AGE OF RETIREMENT, EFFECTS ON SOCIETY
Not so bad carrying the PVC; it's climbing the poles that tires me out!As reported on Bloomberg, AIG CEO Robert Benmosche says that the debt crisis is causing governments worldwide to realize that the retirement age may have to be raised to as much as 80 years old. That will make pensions, medical services more affordable, he says. As CEO of AIG he's real disreputable, part of the 1% but that doesn't mean the thinking he has doesn't exist or isn't shared by other One-Percenters.
Yeah gang, it seems our 'frugal' Government wants its poor, aged workers to pay for its 3 trillion bucks worth of OIL WARS which only enriched a few oligarchs and war toy manufacturers. Not Soldiers who earn 38k a year and who came back hinky & suicidal. Good ole Congress wants to RAISE retirement age, 67 would be ok 70 would be better but 80 is what they're hoping for. They tell us that they will save a lot of moola instead of giving us our money back, cash we paid into the system. THEY WANT TO USE OUR MONEY SOME MORE! Kill some more third world mothers and children.
If that's not ugly enough, ponder their plan for a minute and you'll see all the BAD BLOWBACK that could come from it. Health problems and poor job prospects prevent some people from working longer So the idea that these bent, arthritic folks are gonna work 40 hour weeks or live on a parttime salary ... is criminally insane.
Unless these 'forced to work til age 70' (or older) people receive generous disability or unemployment benefits, many will be wheeling push carts thru the streets and sleeping in refrigerator boxes and our streets will be littered with senior corpses.
The lucky ones will struggle to get by before qualifying for retirement benefits by shacking up with their children.
But also I think more of us will choose not to get into debt at college, not to work in the work force, pay taxes, pay into Social Security... more of us will go into GUERILLA CAPITALISM and take care of our own butts as seniors, the way humans have done for billions of years.

The government alleges that we are HEALTHIER than we were decades ago. All that soy tofu paid off. And now they want to squeeze that last little quantum of energy out of our aching bones. AS IF they'd created an economy where we could find a job!
Now if they can get us old, desperate and CHEAP, why should they hire COLLEGE GRADS? In a world where there are no jobs for college grads, how can all us NO ANNUITY, NO PENSION geezers pay for a bed in our children's HOMES??
This is a LOSE-LOSE idea. So when you see that your Congressman is about to vote for the AGE HITCH write him fast saying let's do a RICH HITCH. Folks with over 60,000$ a year pensions or over that amount in the bank in savings or stocks should not be entitled to SS pension at all.
This is only ONE plan which the oligarchs have up their sleeves. The other is "MEANS TESTING" The comfortable won't get the fifty years of cash they put into their plan. Howdya Like THEM APPLES? Probably you don't. And you won't like this. YOU WORK at Walmart while you get Social Security they tax you up to 85% of your income! SEE "TAXING THE OVERTAXED FOR THE LAST STRETCH.
