I may have passed the above wisdom to you before, but it bears repeating. While the original quote which came to my attention was from Admiral Canaris {I'm going to assume though out here you know who I'm talking about, a Nazi bigwig, look it up...} when dealing with Spooks and Government it's an excellent rule. It particularly applies to White House higher ups like Ari Fleischer...
I re-mentioned this in regards to Col Fletcher Prouty, whom I had the pleasure of listening to on more than one occasion, in company of some other notables you may have heard of like Dr. Edward Teller, who were members of the Board of Visitors {the oversight committee} of the Defense Intelligence School {now Defense Intelligence College currently located at Bolling AFB, Wash. DC.} I have an enormous amount of respect for Prouty and his work, and I can assure you personally that his writings some of which I am familiar with are probably closer to the mark of truth than most, my opinion. The following is background.
While I was in the service, I was designated as 84D20/84E40, Audio Specialist/Television Cameraman {two specialties since deleted, or folded into the MOS Combat Cameraman with the slimming-down of the Uniformed Services} a limited field personnel-wise in the first place, and very difficult to make promotions in the second place as there were very few slots available. {the 84E40 was a lateral transfer when I was promoted to Staff Sergeant, one of only 8 in the entire Army...}
Originally, I enlisted in 1967 specifically for this specialty, as the prospects for being drafted were more than excellent, and I figured, among other things that being behind a microphone looked a lot more attractive than operating an M-14 out in a rice paddy someplace. When I was in Basic Training it's instructive to note that out of my company of 250 individual there were 7 volunteers, the rest were draftees, and all those were sent en masse to Advanced Training as Infantry 11B20 {read "cannon fodder"} as a unit and then shipped overseas to warmer climates.
Meanwhile, 7 of us went to other specialty schools, for further training. In my class there were 13 students learning the trade of radio, TV and film, and towards the end of the 13 weeks of training various offers were made to the top 5 or 6 class members from units that had special needs for audio specialists {which covered a lot more than audio, but that's what it was called} As third in class standing I was approached by two "recruiters", one for The US Army Band and one for DIA (DEFENSE INTELLIGENCE) {a classmate accepted his US Army Band assignment and spent his entire career and retired from there!} which of course I chose the DIA one.
From 1968 to 1973 I was nominally assigned to Defense Intelligence School as a member of Academic Support, with "other duties as assigned" . As a training school one of the many things we did was educate new and continuing officers in the trade, which is mostly mundane reading field reports, analyzing intelligence from the field, and such. The school for Agents {read genuine spooks } was located elsewhere, each in it's individual service.
You can read about DIA on the website, everything I've said thus far is not classified to the best of my knowledge. Point being, as the guy that shows the slides, I was present in these classes, some more than once, at all levels from new officer to the Senior classes {really upper-level management types} and also the inter-agency seminars. As you can suspect, the higher-level the student, the higher-level clearance required to attend, and the higher-level clearance required to be present in the room. Since I was a "straight-arrow" type in high school {read never officially got caught} I qualified for the highest-level clearance with all the special access add-ons that were available.
For example, I was slotted {in that "other duties as assigned"} as a back-up briefing technician for the weekly JCS briefings in "The Tank" and with a suitable request was authorized access to the White House Situation Room {that's in the basement} While there are higher compartmentalisations, there aren't many of them, and that goes into "need to know" . Suffice it to say I've been places and seen things that boggle the mind.
Suffice it to also say that I signed several forms that are still in force today, not to reveal a lot of the things I'm aware of and I respect that, as I have no desire to make small rocks out of large ones, and do not care for the climate or the company at Leavenworth..
What I can do though is make some general observations especially about things that are already in the public domain that may have been previously classified, once the cat is out of the proverbial bag. I've had the pleasure of meeting some very impressive people this way, perhaps all too briefly, or they would not have remembered {as I was office furniture to them} but even so, if one pays attention to what's said in the room, there's a lot than can be gained {actually, when you think of it, it would be an ideal assignment for a mole, which is why the NAC clearance process is so tough
Many upper-level types now retired, and many then-junior bureaucrats that are now the leaders of the current Gummint in that sacrosanct second-tier civil servant bureaucratic sinecure. People like then- Maj North, then-Maj Schwartzkopf, freshly returned from VN, and a lot of other names that are now well-known, that in those days, were on their way up to where they are now. After DIA, I was assigned, because of the sensitivity of my clearance to Aberdeen Proving Ground, just north of Baltimore, where I worked in the Motion Picture Division of Test and Evaluation Command, and later in the Television Division of the US Army Ordnance & Chemical Center and School.
Both jobs were oriented around weapons systems, both new and current, and involved much field activity thereof. It was while I was there I was interviewed for the White House Communications Agency as a prospective employee, {still in service}, but I had a bit too much debt on the books to qualify for that position {that's a security risk, obviously, and a shame, I would have enjoyed that job.. they're a neat bunch of guys..} having just then been married. I left the service in 1977, due to a slight difficulty regarding my enlistment. I had received orders for Germany to work in NATO as a Specialist 5, but had been promoted to Staff Sergeant and no longer qualified for that assignment though I has extended my enlistment specifically for that position. when it was realised at Command that I was in a position where I could not accept the assignment and was therefore in the Army "illegally" {as that was a specific extension}
I was offered an alternative, Commander of an Anti-aircraft Vehicle at Fort Huachuca {read an armored personnel carrier with a 20mm Gatling gun, also known as a tin can in the hot desert,} later to be replaced by the Bradley Fighting Vehicle {which I knew from my work at Aberdeen} or early release from the service, which looked much more inviting at that time. You will recall, of course, that initially my intent in volunteering for military service was to avoid getting shot at be rude strangers, so this opportunity to serve in a combat unit was never in my long-range career plan.. Total time in was 9 years 9 months and 15 days.. While theoretically I was never stationed overseas, I did do a lot of Temporary Duty {TDY} that does not show up on my official record, but was interesting nonetheless. All right. If you've slogged through all the background stuff to this point I appreciate it. I thought it was important that for the future you have a general idea of where my head is, and what my background is so that you can place what I say in proper perspective.. now, lets go fishing..
UFO's.... An interesting area, and something I've been mildly involved in since the late 1950's when I first learned about them. There's not a lot about them generally that I'm not aware of, both on that actuality and the disinformational side of the issue. There's a lot of good info from each direction, but even so, it's an unproven issue whether they're extraterrestrial or just objects cloaked in National Security. I *can* tell you that there's a lot of official interest in the matter that's not formally acknowledged by several Gummints, but whether it's because it's a cover for a military program {the large quantities of disinformation, that is} or just water-muddying to cover up and actual ET event remains murky. I have seen a UFo on radar however, and that was of more than passing interest, I can tell you as it was in DC in the late 60's.. Got some people highly excited, it did. And Area 51...
Interesting place that, not many people not assigned there permanently get to visit, it was originally the home of the development of the U-2, the SR-71, and several other highly classified {at the time of test and design} aircraft {like the F-117} that needed to be obscured from public view.. Dreamland Resort {the website} so you know, is a technically oriented group of people, not given to the usual opinion that there's ET's involved there, but subscribe to the theory that it's just a military research and test facility {fact is, ET theories are not well received there, by their choice, as these are the people that are engineers, and aircraft nuts {like I am} and are of the persuasion that there's way too much disinformation regarding Area 51 that's been promulgated for other reasons} I saw your post there this morning, and while I do not expect it will be called "off-topic" don't be offended of someone says something about it. It's just the way they are. These guys spend a lot of time in the physical area looking for aircraft, though the closest to the base it's possible to get is 26 miles, and that really limits the possibilities of really seeing anything dramatic, but, it happens. The site is valuable however when one wants to examine the military-industrial interconnections that Ike warned us about {he also warned about the industrial-educational-research cabal, did you know? look it up... it's equally dangerous} and is a microcosm example of some of the things that are adrift in this country. Now, having said that, here's my take on The Wing. First, people are trying to place it in pigeon-holes they already know, conspiracy-wise, instead of making a whole new box for the object. Multinational Corporations and Armies follow hand-in-hand. whether Gummint is a witting tool or a Useful Idiot remains to be seen, but, there's no doubt that since 1913 or so Business has been in the drivers' seat. You don't need the Illuminati when you have the Boys in the boardroom all connected by family and interests on the other hand, propagation of Conspiracy Theories works wonderfully well as a smokescreen and keeps the cynic and skeptic busy watching the magician's "other" hand while the real work is done elsewhere. There's a lot of talent involved in looking in a lot of areas where there's much smoke, but little fire. If those talents were active in pursuing the truth that's concealed in plain sight, there's be mass hangings in the streets... Some "secret societies exist to be investigated, to keep "us" occupied. Conspiratorial "Bread & Circuses" for the more aware {but not aware enough}masses. Mostly, it works. The second being the other key point I referenced earlier. ] These two are the sides of the same coin. these two are also connected to Empire. whether NWO or something more dangerous remains to be seen, but soothing that needs to be examined in detail, if possible, and thwarted. what concerns me is the revolving door between government service and industrial corporations, and the interchangeability of the players, to who's benefit, theirs, not ours. Watch what happens in Iraq when the contracts are passed out, who gain, who loses.. that will be a major indice of who's who..
