SAGA OF A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER, SO GOOD SHE CAN EVEN DO SELF PORTRAITS!

QUIT THE DULL WORKADAY WORLD!
BE AN ARTIST! My daughter worked for a big Beverly Hills CPA- Business manager to the stars; she was a great bookkeeper, did it for years, made a huge salary, even caught an embezzler working there at the firm, was asked to get her CPA so she could take over the biz when he retired but true to our family's genes, the gal  had this longing for art, and having worked for photog Michel Comte doing bi-coastal shoots, she finally quit her job, moved from L.A. to the big city Comte had shown her, NEW YORK &  created a ONE WOMAN PHOTOGRAPHY BIZ out of her apartment. She shoots her clients (the children of the uberwealthy of Manhattan,) in the park. Gets top dollar.  She got clients by going to PLAY SPACES where wealthy Moms stick their kids for hours a day, made friends with the owners. That alone was the source of years of revenue. Recently we had the MELTDOWN 2008 DEPRESSION HIT. Well, this savvy daughter of mine sent out this email to sixty mothers on her mailing list. When you do not have a store, a.) you don't pay 5k a month to the landlord, that money is yours and b.) you have to make up for street walk ins by doing BEATING THE BUSH (Old African Hunting term) PUBLICITY! A good lesson in HOW TO INCREASE BIZ once you have a mailing list. Even a fine TEXT FOR A PHOTOG to use to AMPLIFY BIZ. (I changed central park to city park so I can send it to photogs I know in other cities.)

 I asked her " you gonna take the pics, then email them to moms? That the plan? and where are the buckolas? ANSWER:  They will only see a small res image (proofs) and must order all prints through me -- at a profitable price for me, but not a high cost! I catch them with the free promo and whatever they choose to order is
a la carte. Most will order something if not all images! Anyway these are old clients, ergo they are gonna pay for the new sesh for sure! And their new pals, the ones they send this to, they get the totally free shoot." OK there's logic in this.

ANOTHER WAY TO REV UP YOUR PHOTO BIZ! Is attracting New blood. She's saturated the MOMMY MARKET, they all know her, they call when they need her. I wrote her " How about a NEW WEBPAGE off your main page. I suggested this, she didn't do it btw. "TRY A NEW OFFERING called ACTORS' HEADSHOTS ANY ACTOR in four different looks. As a sweetheart, parent, villain, addict, insane person, four different looks, 400$ B&W 8x 10 ready for your composite shop, HOLLYWOOD FILM FAN FOTO used to be the biggie in the industry. how do you do that in NYC? COMPOSITE has name at bottom. Agency maybe. Fone # of agent."

"When I acted in the days of the Model T Ford, (I starred on MAVERICK,  BONANAZA, DOBIE GILLIS,)  we had to go on interviews, give every casting director a COMPOSITE ( 8 x 10) which showed four looks. ON a composite. I never did four though cuz hey --I only had ONE LOOK! 18 year old girl, playing 25 at a stretch. But we had to leave fotos with every casting director and we also had to get it in the "BOOK". There was a book of photos Academy something? I forget its name. They still have that? Every casting director had that book on his desk.
