FORWARDING INTERESTING NET DOCS is an ART FORM ALL ITS OWN!

An activist, at heart, is an INFO-SHARING, caring person. He/she wants to share that N.Y. TIMES article or that CNN article she/he found on net Well, sending a PAGE out of cyberspace is like sending a big ham or turkey thru the mail. IT IS CUMBERSOME. It is slow! So find another way to skin the cat. (What a horrible metaphor! Where did such a ludicrous idea come from?)

Sometimes, one of those big websites or ezines or online newspapers will give you a cleaner version. It will say "CLICK on THIS other VERSION TO PRINT OUT". NAIL IT. Don't see that much anymore so I have to know how to GRAB THE TEXT, stick it in an HTM WEBPAGE in my SEA MONKEY HTM  article-maker software. OR grab plain text and put it in NOTEBOOK as ASCI text.

THE ARTICLE ONLINE is all formatted. They are NOT offering you a NON GRAPHIC-KY alternate version without all that HUGE amt of slow loading pictures, and all the side bars, and then the rest of the stuff on the page. You want to grab Just the text ma'am. But you have to click on what they OFFER, do CONTROL A to highlight it, CONTROL C to grab it, open your software and drop it in with CONTROL V.

Then you can save it as text. Then you can clean it up. I use COMPOSER which is inside my NETSCAPE BROWSER, and I recommend it. The thing inhales text, and turns it instantly into HTML. Lets you colorize like this page, Lets you pick font colors, like this page here. The saving as text will also get rid of all cumbersome graphics.

Now, save it in colors, as html or no colors, no formatting, as text and SEND IT ON TO A PAL. Send a copy to yourself. Look at it. Note first that the file transmits fast and loads fast. That's important in the activism line of hobby.

NEXT, I have to grab some key graphics. RIGHT CLICK ON IT and save it to cache and REPOST it at your own website. Don't link to their graphic as they may close up shop leaving you with an article with dead links in it! ROBOTS shun you forever.

LAST, analyze your own new copy and note if the URLS are live links. You want a live link you use the LINK ICON at top of screen to create it. You highlight the http thingie, down to the end, then hit LINK and fill in the info and it turns alive. That way you send URLS as live links so folks can click on it. no paste, no cut ....just double click and Dorothy's two ruby shoes, off you go!

See, all the time friends send me articles. A great activist pal sent me some NY TIMES headlines but only the URL. I clicked on the URL, waited five minutes, just sitting there for those NYTIMEs screens to load. They never did. It was like a camel giving birth. First the top of head. Five minutes later, the eyes. I QUIT at that point. My blood pressure had gone up so many points.

Another pal captured the html article en toto and sent it. I was two minutes waiting for that single EMAIL to open. I could see it, letter 22, in a line of 50. I had to go in the kitchen scramble eggs and make toast, I came back to PC it was still loading. Letter 22.

That's because some of these articles have ads, pictures, stuff you don't need.
SO CLEAN UP BEFORE YOU FORWARD! After all, the idea is, get the stuff read!
