find JUNK YARD used parts real cheap unlike Jap trucks.) . And start a
garden business. There are many ways to do it. First, DO VICTORY
GARDENS FOR FOOD. Believe me, it's easy.
You do not need to go to agricultural college. Just approach this as a
regular person with a certain amount of upper body strength, good taste
and undercharge all the people who have degrees in this field. In fact,
to bring prices down, get the home owner and his children to help you do
the work on weekends. The only things you'll ever need to know about gardens

A SECOND IDEA, that goes with the first. Start BUILDING pine fences and using the demolition wood that the homeowner has paid you TO HAUL AWAY for custom BOOK SHELVES AS IT IS FREQUENTLY REDWOOD from the old days before Redwood Protection! And the grain on old fences is terrific.
Get a saw, sander and instantly, there's a fine carpenter's dynamic in the air, very strong out there now in a RECESSION! I just put l00 feet of fencing, (north side of my yard, East side, torn down,) dozens of redwood planks up for sale at 6$ a plank. 6 feet high, a foot wide. And I got a lot of bites. This fence material was used to surround the back of property (which I rent btw,) --I loved it, until the neighbor got mad as a few planks had water destruction (fifty years in the sun and rain, how not?) But most planks were primo, great rippling, spiraling deep grain as it's been up for 50 years and it weathered! But a few were down near bushes that kept them damp and neither neighbor PAINTED THEIR SIDE so that deteriorated things. Still, I let the neighbors do cyclone fencing on one side, the guy in back did crummy PINE fencing and me, hinky heart and all, I CARRIED the redwood to where I'd positioned a lot of RISERS, stacked then tarped it waiting for my son to return home and build and sell outdoor furniture and amazing bookshelves.
THIS IS beautiful wood. Years of exposure have made it look like the surface of a brook. It has that much grain. Getting a lot of answers on Craigs list. Wish my kid would come home, but I'm selling it if I must. It's great wood for carpentry projects. You could find some of this rare stuff as OLD FENCES are often made of genuine redwood whereas today they're all pine. Be a great biz for some young woodworker with a saw, nails, screwdriver, building CUSTOM bookshelf units. The trick is, OLD redwood FENCES are valuable beyond belief and getting them is a prize, so that young kid would have to also PULL DOWN OLD FENCES for clients and put up the new PINE ones that folks want. SO BECOME A FENCER!.
Then go into your workshop and use the grainy wood. Make bookshelves. Everyone needs them. And If you can do your shelves easily, might as well sell used books too. Garage sales let them go for a buck a box at sundown Sunday. READ "HOW TO SELL BOOKS" Vendors are only as good as their reputations but you as a begining bookman will only be as strong as your shelves, so learn how to BUILD THOSE SHELVES
You have any young people you'd like to start in a business? Your Drippy nephew maybe? If people invested in cottage businesses instead of hedge funds and stocks, there'd be no billionaires jumping out of buildings. Fund a strong boy who is honest. Start them in this business. You do the books every Friday night. Keep tabs of the earnings, the clients. Maybe run the phones, too.
Another great business besides fences, wood shelves would be DRIP IRRIGATION, much needed in this time of Drought. Have your charge, your boy, your nephew get an old 75 Toyota truck to carry this light weight pipe on, you won't need 8 cylinders. The pipe and fittings are light. LAST IDEA: STONE FENCES. On the East Coast where there is both
abundant field stone and acid soil both, one can do lavish field stone
