Washington D.C. more than 60 of the nation’s top scientists,
including 20 Nobel laureates, medical experts, and former
federal
agency directors, issued a statement February 18, 2004
accusing the
Bush Administration of deliberately distorting scientific
results for
political ends. They are calling for regulatory and
legislative
action to restore scientific integrity to federal
policymaking. Under
the current administration, the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA)
has blacklisted scientists who pose a threat to pro-business
ideology, and many unqualified scientists with close industry
ties
have been appointed to advisory boards.
